Client : World Bank Group
Duration : December 2014 – September 2015
Description : The Vision 2020 Umurenge Program (VUP) is a social protection program initiated by the Government of Rwanda in 2008. The qualitative study aimed to build on the evidence presented in the 2009-2014 Impact Evaluation Reports. The objectives included understanding the link between household context and asset accumulation, understanding risk management strategies employed by beneficiary households, and identifying successful investment strategies, enabling factors, risks and limitations to asset accumulation for VUP beneficiaries. The qualitative study report detailed and assessed the household context, risk management, the drivers, obstacles and strategies for material welfare improvements for VUP beneficiaries. The approach involved conducting and analyzing nearly 50 Life History Interviews as the main qualitative method.
